The Conviction
Charlie Elphicke, the former Conservative MP for Dover, was found guilty in July 2020 of three counts of sexual assault against two women. The trial at Southwark Crown Court heard that Elphicke had used his position of power to "terrorise" his victims. He was subsequently jailed for 2 years.
